Indocalamus tessallatus, commonly known as Giant Leaf Bamboo, has the largest leaves of all the bamboo that is cultivated in the United States. The leaf size of this bamboo can reach 24" in length and 4" in width. Giant Leaf Bamboo leaves are used in cooking, similar to banana leaves, by wrapping food in them prior to steaming. Giant Leaf Bamboo is a running bamboo and propagates by rhisome. Makes a great container plant.
